Sophie's Despair

Despite her cheerfulness and bright smile, Sophie had never felt such despair. She had planned on marrying the father of her baby, but he was no longer in her life. Her relationship with her parents was broken, and circumstances had forced her to leave home. She tried to go back to talk with her parents only to find her belongings in the front yard.

She did not want to have an abortion but soon began wrestling with the decision to keep her baby. She thought to herself, “If I just had an abortion, things would surely go back to normal.” She longed to go home and desperately wanted the relationship with her boyfriend restored. Her visit to the abortion clinic made it clear that she could not proceed with the abortion. She decided to stand firm and choose Life for her baby.

Searching online, Sophie found iChoose and scheduled an appointment. The compassion she received from our staff and volunteers encouraged her to begin attending Parenting Classes. She came for classes weekly and was offered two devotionals; one about God’s plan and purpose for her life, and another for the father outlining how he can support and encourage her during the pregnancy. She was grateful to receive these two treasures that completely changed her life.

Sophie soon began attending a local church, and her boyfriend even began going to church with her! They are now married and eagerly anticipate having their baby. During a recent parenting class, she shared that even though she had struggled with the thought of being pregnant, she now understood that her precious unborn baby is a wonderful blessing from God.
